Maur Hill – Mount Academy resides in the town of Atchison located in the northeast corner of Kansas, about 45 minutes north of Kansas City. We enjoy the convenience and proximity to a metropolitan area and Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and the safety and friendliness of a small town.
Community
Historical Atchison is a quaint town with brick-paved streets lined with local and family-owned businesses and restaurants, museums and historical sites, and hauted Victorian mansions. We are proud to be the birthplace of Amelia Earhart, a pioneer in aviation and the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Medical Services
The health and well-being of our students is a priority. With parent approval, our residence director will schedule any medical appointments your child needs. We have cultivated relationships with many medical professionals including local doctors and nurses at Amberwell Health, dentists, orthodontists, optometrists, chiropractors, therapists, and pharmacists we know we can rely on to assist at any time.
Higher Education
In 1858, the sisters and monks of Mount St. Scholastica and St. Benedict’s Abbey started Benedictine College, a four-year college. We partner with Benedictine College to offer college credit courses and provide guidance and resources for our juniors and seniors as they embark on the college search process.

Flying In
The Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is approximately a 35-minute drive to Maur Hill – Mount Academy.
Transportation
We recommend renting a car at the airport so you have flexibility in scheduling your flight arrival and departure times. Enjoy the freedom of your own transportation to explore the area and see the surrounding communities. At this time, public transportation is not a reliable means for travel to and from the airport or around town.
In certain cases, prospective families may make advance arrangements with the admissions office for transportation to and from the airport, campus, and hotel. Contact us to learn more.
